LOURMARIN
Lourmarin is a charming little town in the center of Provence, France. Provence is made up of many small towns, each uniquely beautiful in their own ways and all located within an easy drive.
Each town has its own market, where you can find fresh French spices and jams, handmade clothing and textiles, antiques, olive oil and much more. As you travel around the region, you will notice endless vineyards, lavender fields and crumbling ruins, which make for a dreamy ride!
We so appreciate our guests making the trip to come celebrate with us, and if possible, we encourage everyone to take some extra time to fall in love with France like we have! Below you’ll find some of our favorite things to do in Provence.
If you’re planning additional travel around the wedding weekend, don’t hesitate to reach out to the bride and groom for suggestions! We would love to share our favorite recommendations and hear about your travel plans!
About Lourmarin…
Le Galinier
This is our wedding venue! Expect all wedding events to be here throughout the weekend. It is only a 5 minute walk from the town center!
Le Moulin
The sister hotel to our wedding venue. This is a fantastic hotel option in the heart of the village, and on market days, the action is right outside the front steps.
Le Commissions de Moulin
A great snack stop. Find yummy baguette sandwiches, spreads, and cute provencal goods here.
Chateau de Lourmarin
A short walk up from the village, this castle is a gorgeous example of 18th and 19th century design. We loved spending a few hours exploring here!
Château Constantin
An organic winery that sits on the edge of Lourmarin with classic provencal grounds.
The Friday Market
Often considered the best market in all of Provence, and we don’t disagree! On Fridays, the town is filled with stalls overflowing with amazing French goods. You will find us here the Friday before our wedding!

Some of our favorite towns…
Aix is one of the largest towns in Provence. Nicknamed “Little Paris”, the town is covered in cobblestone and filled with history. Most notably, the artist Cezanne spent most of his life here. His art studio is available to visit - Katie says it’s a must! The city buzzes with amazing boulangeries, produce markets, to-die-for fromageries, and endless adorable shopping!
Market days: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday

Aix-en-Provence
An ancient village perched high on a cliff, this may be the most stunning village in Provence. Driving up to town, you get a full view of the village as it cascades down the mountain. Come here for the market, which focuses on fabrics and soap. Do not miss exploring the church in town! Provence is known for its bright patterns, and the church interior is covered in so many different motifs. It’s served much inspiration in our wedding design! We loved watching the sun set over the valley over sushi at Le TIGrr.
Market days: Tuesday
(40 mins NW of Lourmarin)
Gordes
Set on the Rhone River, the town’s center has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Once a flourishing textile manufacturing town, Avignon is filled with medieval history. Its hard to get lost without running into a landmark! Avignon is home to one of the most famous food markets, Les Halles is a permanent market brimming with bright produce and drool worthy vendors. Some of most lauded chefs often make a point of visiting here!
Les Halles market days: everyday, closed on Mondays

Avignon
Often referred to as the “Venice of France”, L’isle Sur La Sorgue is known for its many winding water canals, wool production, art galleries and endless amazing antique stores. The market here is known for its vintage sellers. We loved visiting the wool museum by Brun de Vian Tiran and brunch at L’Atelier Du Jardin!
